New York was the first stop on our trip to the States. It didn't originally feature in our plans but we decided as we were going to be fairly local we may as well go while we were there. New York is an amazing and fascinating city, and I'm really glad that we went, but it was hot and noisy and busy, and I won't be hurrying back. I would certainly recommend visiting if you get the chance but I think once was enough for me.
Couldn't quite get over Macy's having food outlets such as Ben & Jerry's, McDonalds and a pretzel counter on every level and people just wandering around the store eating food.
The view from one of the windows in our hotel room was pretty spectacular.
But then we were on the 31st floor!
The view became even more spectacular as night fell and the lights were turned on.
The hotel itself was pretty spectacular.
"America runs on Dunkin" - but why don't we?
There's no excuse for getting lost in Manhattan.
The emergency services were never far away. I've never seen so many traffic cops.
One of the original entrances to Macy's on 34th Street.
It was like a sauna in the subway station but it was an experience.
We didn't actually make it into the Met as the queue was about 2 hours just to get in!
We walked back the scenic route taking in St Patricks, Radio City and the Rockefeller Centre.
We were slightly amazed at how many people didn't wait for the "Walk" light.
Times Square was bizarre. It just felt very strange and I didn't really like it.
