Thanks Randy

This time last year I was asking Randy to get me Quique Sanchez Flores for my birthday and he completely let me down and gave me McLeish instead. That was probably the worst birthday present anybody ever gave me, but I'll forgive him as he has redeemed himself somewhat this year.

While Lambert isn't a super attractive, swarthy Spaniard as I had previously requested, and I don't want him in nearly the same way as Quique, it's not a bad birthday present. His appointment excites me and gives me hope for the future.

What's more, reports today suggest that Jean II Makoun is likely to be recalled and given a proper opportunity to shine under a manager who is far more likely to get the very best out of a player with his potential.

Having performed well with Olympiakos last season, his creativity and passing ability would be a welcome addition in a midfield that has largely lacked movement and vision under McLeish's reign, but I have high hopes that we will see a reinvigorated midfield under Lambert with our highly talented players actually displaying some of that talent and some belief.

It may not be Quique, but this year Randy has given me optimism and hope for the future, which is far more than I could have wished for a few weeks ago.
